Arsenal To ANNOUNCE MAJOR Transfer Business This Week

Football is a strange business – for both fans and players alike. It seems Colombian International goalkeeper David Ospina is learning this cold, hard lesson , after reports emerged that he , and not Wojciech Szczesny, will be the victim of Petr Cech’s transfer to Arsenal.

Ospina had joined the Gunners just last season from Nice in a £3 million deal , and after spending the majority of the first half of the season on the bench, established himself as Wenger’s preferred choice between the sticks in January. He had performed admirably when given the chance and was expected to be the permanent first choice next season. That was, however, until Arsenal got the chance to sign Petr Cech from rivals Chelsea.

Cech’s arrival at the Gunners changes everything for Ospina. Though a pretty decent keeper himself, the 26-year-old Colombian comes nowhere close to matching Cech’s pedigree as a four time Premier League and Champions League winner and one of the best ever goalkeepers to have ever played on the English shores.The Czech International will most definitely be the first choice at Arsenal next season , which leaves Ospina fighting with Szczesny for a spot on the bench.

Ospina, however , isn’t thrilled by the prospect and has reportedly made it clear to Wenger that he will not play second fiddle. It was believed that Arsenal will move on either him or the Poland International this season. However, it increasingly appears Ospina is close to being that man as reports have surfaced that Wenger prefers to keep Szczesny over Ospina, owing to the combination of the Pole being a homegrown player and Wenger’s utter faith in the academy product.

Ospina has now been linked with a £3.2 million move to Fenerbahce , with the Turkish club believing that the player has an agreement with Gunners which would enable them to sign him this summer.

Meanwhile, Szczesny has been touted to remain at Arsenal as a second fiddle to the experienced former Chelsea custodian, a role he has formerly fulfilled behind both Manuel Almunia and Lukas Fabianski , and hone his skills by learning on the job from one of the best goalkeepers of his generation in Petr Cech.

Ospina’s stock has risen recently owing to his stellar displays in goal for Colombia at the Copa America, and a move abroad suits all the parties involved, as Gunners fans prepare to bid adieu to a consummate professional whom they had recently started regarding as one of their own.
