Four Reasons Why Chelsea Will Beat Arsenal

Tension as well as anxiety is high as we look forward to another highly anticipated North London derby match between Chelsea and Arsenal. Despite Chelsea’s disastrous start to the Premier League this season, the Blues have been tipped to edge out Arsenal in a tightly contested encounter. A lot of people might disagree with this notion so let us examine a host of reasons why Chelsea should secure a win over Arsenal on Saturday.

Mourinho’s history against Arsenal : Despite losing to Arsenal in the Community Shield earlier in the season, Arsenal have only won 1 out of the 14 matches against Chelsea. Chelsea boast of a superior edge over the Gunners and knowing Jose Mourinho, the Portuguese will rather settle for a draw with Arsenal than losing.

Need for Points: Chelsea poor start to the Premier League this season is their worst start in 20 years. The Defending Champions have picked a poor 4 points out of a possible 20 points this season and know that they need to start picking up points this season otherwise a top 4 spot for the Blues will become a very difficult task.

Arsenal’s lack of confidence : The Gunners loss to Dinamo Zagreb will surely be of no help to their confidence. The circumstances surrounding the Arsenal loss to Dinamo Zagreb is bound have a long-lasting effect on the Gunners morale and the Blues should be looking to capitalise on that.

Squad Strength and Quality: In terms of quality and strength, the Blues are certainly ahead of Arsenal in that regard. The Gunners team boast of quite a number of talents but some players in the squad are still unproven and tend to crack under pressure. However, Jose Mourinho has a team of magnificent players at his disposal that can compete at any level in the world. A combined XI of both Arsenal and Chelsea team combined together will see Chelsea players dominate the squad.

Momentum : About a week ago, many would have said Arsenal had the edge over Chelsea in terms of momentum. However,  Chelsea’s midweek over Maccabi Tel-Aviv seems to have re-energised a host of players in the team and shifted momentum back to their side. Diego Costa scored a magnificent goal which might suggest his goal scoring shoes are back. The Blues team looked like the formidable Chelsea team of last season while also keeping their first clean sheet of the season. With Chelsea gaining a little bit of confidence during the midweek, Arsenal  will find it difficult to stop the Blues come Saturday.
