Key Liverpool Attacker To Miss FC Sion Clash

The boss of the Reds Brendan Rodgers has revealed that his skillful and on-form attacker Daniel Sturridge will be rested when Liverpool line up against FC Sion in the Europa League Cup, this is in a bid to keep the player refreshed ahead of the Merseyside derby.

The news was revealed by a Liverpool enthusiast on his official social media account Twitter.

“Rodgers on Sturridge: “He won’t be involved in the game. We’ll keep him fresh for the weekend. He’s still building his way towards fitrness.”

After being sidelined for the better part of the immediate past season, Sturridge returned in Liverpool’s rank but he looked a bit short of the requisite match fitness. He subsequently proved his mettle against Aston Villa last weekend when he scored a brace in the Kop’s 3-2 victory.

With the schedules of Liverpool getting thick, Rodgers is wary of Sturridge’s injury Vulnerability. The Kop will play host to a low rated FC Sion this night and the Merseyside derby is about 72 hours away. Rodgers has decided to be pro-active in managing his players so as to avoid setbacks.

In the penultimate season, Sturridge scored in both fixtures of the Merseyside derby, a feat he will be looking to replicate this season as he leads the attack for Brendan Rodgers.
