Breaking – Pep Guardiola to Chelsea? Manager to Sign a 3-Year Contract

Pep Guardiola saga continues to roll on. After the recent claims that the Bayern Munich manager has agreed to join Premier League club Man City in the summer, Daily Star have exclusively claimed that Chelsea are very much in the running for the Spaniard.

According to the report, Blues owner Roman Abramovich is a keen admirer of the former Barcelona man and is refusing to give up on him. The report claims that the Russian has been encouraged by willingness from Guardiola’s camp to listen to his offer.

Guardiola is expected to move to Premier League in summer, and all major English clubs- Man City. Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal- have been linked with him.

“I have an opportunity to work in England – I’m at the right age, and I feel it is the right move for me,” he said. He is expected to sign a three-year contract at his next destination.

“City think they have got him, but Chelsea are still very much in the running,” Daily Star quotes a source close to Guardiola. “He is leaving it out there and definitely hasn’t made up his mind up.”

One thing that might work in Chelsea’s favour is Guardiola’s wife Cristina Serra’s keenness to move to London, rather than the northern city of Manchester. Daily Star also claims that Guardiola is hesitant about accepting the job at West London club because he doesn’t want comparisons with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, with whom he had a tumultuous relationship when he was in charge of Barcelona.

The 43-year-old, a former Barcelona academy graduate, made a name for himself in football management during his four-year spell at Nou Camp.
He led arguably the greatest football team of all time to three league titles and two Champions League titles.
