Thomas Muller suggests that Arsenal and Liverpool target Mario Gotze will leave Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze has been linked with a move to Premier League clubs Liverpool and Arsenal for a while now. Recently, Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund were also linked with a move for their former star.

Now, the recent comments from Gotze’s teammate Thomas Muller have suggested that the 23-year old will indeed be moving in the summer transfer window.

Muller, who is on national duty with Gotze, said in a press conference: “I’ve talked to Mario, of course, we’ve talked in the dressing room and I fully appreciate that he might not be satisfied at Bayern Munich. From a purely sporting point of view, of course you want to be on the pitch, you want to be showing the public what you can do,”

“As far as him signing for another club is concerned, I’m not his advisor or his agent so I would wish for him to stay at Bayern Munich but you never know in this world so I don’t talk about potential new clubs with Mario Gotze.”

Gotze moved to Bayern Munich from Dortmund in a €37 million move in 2013. However, he has failed to live up to the expectations at Bayern and has struggled with injuries this season.

He has made only eight league appearances under Pep Guardiola this season. His contract with Bayern runs out next season and the Bundesliga club are expected to offload him in summer if they receive a suitable offer for him.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly identified him as a possible summer target for the Reds. Klopp played a huge role in Gotze’s development at Dortmund, and he believes that the World Cup winner could prove to be a significant signing for the Merseysiders.

German publication Bild has claimed that Dortmund are also interested in bringing the player back to Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund have reportedly already enquired about the player’s availability.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have held a long-term interest in the player. Manager Arsene Wenger has previously admitted that he likes Gotze as a player.

The Gunners were also linked with a move for the attacking midfielder before he moved to Bayern Munich.

Gotze has scored 20 goals in 67 league appearances during his time with Bayern. He has won two Bundesliga titles with Bayern. He also won two Bundesliga titles with Dortmund when Jurgen Klopp was still in charge of the club.
