Kieran Gibbs replacement rejected PSG, Wenger in advanced negotiations with the star

Portuguese left-back, Raphael Guerreiro, is a name known by many players of Football Manager around the world. He is a young defender that has impressed at French side Lorient and he is starting to attract interest from some of the bigger clubs in Europe.

PSG are known to have tried to lure the player to Paris last year, but Guerreiro was not content to sit o the subs bench all season. He told a French newspaper:

There were contacts between the presidents and with my agent last summer. But I made it clear that it was not an option that interested me. For the good of my career, I figured that it would be better to have a complete season with Lorient rather than to be a substitute at PSG. Even if you do progress when you are in contact with great players, I gave playing time greater importance.”

Now it seems that after another good season at Lorient, he might just be ready to make the move to a bigger club and both Liverpool and Arsenal are extremely interested in securing his services.

TransferMarketWeb reports that the player and his agent are in deep discussions with Arsene Wenger and Arsenal, and a £6million summer move has been spoken of. The player only has a year to run on his contract and Lorient  are keen to cash in the player rather than letting his contract run out.

Would he go straight into the first team? Wenger is reportedly dismayed at the lack of consistency and constant injuries shown by his current left-back options, Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs. If Guerreiro does complete a move to North London, it might see both of those making a move elsewhere.
