Done Deal? Has Liverpool Completed The Transfer Of This Spaniard?

Liverpool midfielder Suso is set to join Italian club AC Milan in the summer or during the January transfer window on the earliest. The attacking midfielder has had game opportunities hard to come by under Red boss Brendan Rodgers. He has only featured for Liverpool in their capital one cup win over middlesbrough this season.

With his contract set to run out next summer and the club’s reluctance to renew his contract, a move to AC Milan looks to be on the card. The Rossonerri are however left in-between decision to sign the player this January or wait until he becomes a free agent in the summer.

Suso was sign by former Liverpool and now Napoli of Italy boss Rafael Benitez in 2010. The 20-year-old was signed as a teenager from his hometown club Cadiz into Liverpool youth team/academy in the summer of 2010 initially on loan because he couldn’t sign a professional contract until he turns 17.

Suso made his senior debut for Liverpool in 2012 and was involved in fourteen league matches for Liverpool that same season. The arrival of Daniel Sturrige and Philippe Coutinho however, means he was relegated to the Liverpool’s U21 side before making a loan move to Spanish side Almeria last season. He made 33 appearances for Almeria scoring three time for the Andelucian side

He returned to Liverpool this past summer but has still found playing opportunities limited. He has represented Liverpool only in their capital one cup game against championship side middlesbrough coming on as a 97th minute substitute. He capped his performance with a goal in 109th minute after the game extended into extra time.

His performance in the game has prompted some sections of Liverpool fans to call for Brendan Rodgers to give more playing time to the young Spanaid but a recent groin injury which ruled him out for up to two month won’t let that happen.

Suso has been linked to AC Milan before now but it seemed the two clubs failed to agree on a deal. The recent interest will mean AC Milan is ready to put an acceptable offer come January transfer window or wait till the summer when the player becomes available as a free agent.

The Rosonneri already have some young, talented attacking midfielders like Keisuke Honda, Jeremy Menez, Stephen El Sharawi and Mbaye Niang but the addition of Suso will give the team options both on the pitch and on the bench. His attacking style of play will suit coach Filippo Inzaghi’s team philosophy.

Brendan Rodgers’ side looks like they don’t have Suso in the future plans hence, their reluctance in initiating a renewed contract talks. The player is eligible to walk on the free in the summer but Liverpool will be better off if they can get something from AC Milan for a player they have invested much in since he was fifteen.

Suso has represented Spain at U17, U18,  U19,  U20 and U21 level. He played every game for the U-19 during the European U19 championship 2012 in Estonia where Spain were crowned champion. He was also the captain of Spain’s U-20 side that competed in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.
