Otamendi FINALLY Off To Manchester United, Club Triggers €50m Release Clause

Reports linking us with a move for Valencia defender, Nicolas Otamendi just won’t go away as a deal seems to be close.

Report of a ‘done deal’ was online a couple of weeks ago when Argentine newspaper, revealed that the highly rated defender had agreed a deal, which will see him move to Old Trafford in the summer. However, several other reports had since surfaced, with some contradicting the earlier story as reported by the Argentine media.

Valencia are known to be a club that know how to play a hardball when it comes to negotiating a higher transfer fee for their players; and we don’t expect that of Otamendi to be any different. As a matter of fact, a meeting was recently held where the board of the Spanish club discussed about the possibility of the transfer. The Spanish club is hell-bent on holding on to their prized jewel, and won’t do business unless a transfer fee in the region of €50 million, which is the player’s release clause is met.

Manchester United’s interest in the Argentine is genuine, and paying a hefty transfer fee to secure his release won’t be a new thing for the Red Devils, who already have a history of going all out for any player of their choice.

A couple of weeks back, Otamendi’s agent was said to have informed Valencia about the Red Devil’s interest in the young defender. Plaza Deportivo, a Spanish media outlet, also revealed the player’s interest in making the switch to the EPL.

While the Red Devils were known to have paid out a hefty amount for players in the past, it remains to be seen if the club will be willing to part with €50 million for the 27-year old defender.
