Arsenal Set To Bid For High Rated Winger Who Has 11 Goals In 27 Apps
Arsenal are preparing a bid for Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur target Yacine Brahimi, according to reports, Arsene Wenger is prepared to cough up £33 million for the highly sought-after star.
An Algerian professional footballer (though he has played for the French national teams at the age grade levels before finally switched allegiance to Algerai in 2013) who plays for Portuguese club Porto and the Algeria national team. He plays as an attacking midfielder and a winger and is described as a “technically gifted player”.
Looking at His career statistics so far, from his first professional club Clemont to Porto, shows that he has scored a total of 31 goals from 177 appearances ( for a total of four clubs), averaging 0.175 goals per match, with 11 of those goals coming from his last 27 appearances for Porto.
Personally, if you compare the rumored price tag to his potential on current evidence, he doesn’t seem to be worth that much. Moreover his favored department on the pitch is one where the Gunners has a lot of options, to now imagine that such a player costing that much would have to be warming the bench, (as I do not see him benching the likes of Alexis or Ozil) is quite unthinkable, though I see him giving the likes of Walcott and Chamberlain a run for their money in getting a starting place on Arsene’s match day team.
Although, it may translate into more attacking options for Arsene Wenger in the event of injuries, and he may turn out be an insurance for the event of Walcott not signing a new contract. Signing Yacine might also mean Arsenal would now have the upper hand in negotiating Walcott’s contract, as they would not be threatened as much by his exit as before.
That said, it would be a real coup if Arsene can get Yacine Brahimi at a cheaper cost.
