If reports emanating from the Spain are anything to believe, Arsenal could be set to sign one of Europe’s top box to box midfield players, Marco Verrati.
According to one of Spain’s most popular sports publications, Marca, the midfielder wants a move out of current Ligue 1 champions, PSG, and sees this current window as one in which to make that dream come true.
Verrati is desperate to push through a transfer out of the capital this summer, putting a host of clubs including the Gunners on a standby. A deal for the Italian international would represent a massive statement of intent for the FA Cup champions, who have been in the transfer market shopping for a box to box midfielder in the class of the PSG player.
A host of top European clubs have been on the trail of the highly talented midfield enforcer. Clubs like Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Barcelona have all been linked with the player. The player, who has been on the wanted list of Arsene Wenger, is one of Europe’s most hardworking midfielders, and will be a significant upgrade on Coquelin.
The 22-year old won’t however, come on the cheap as he would attract a very huge transfer fee should his French employers decide to let him leave before the end of the summer. Besides, the Gunners may not wish to be drawn into a bidding war with other top European clubs over the player’s signature, which of course, would spark a massive bidding war.
