United’s chances of luring France international, Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid to the Old Trafford have now gone slim with Real Madrid interested in the forward all of a sudden. Following the shocking and embarrassing loss of Pedro to Chelsea unexpectedly, the 24 year-old was seen as the perfect winger needed to give the Red Devils’ attack more fluidity up front, and they might have to start a search for other available options as Florentino Perez has turned attention to the Les Bleus frontman, having plans to make him one of top transfer targets of Real Madrid.
The duo of Juan Mata and Memphis Depay currently take charge of the wings for United, however, both aren’t anywhere close to the high quality a natural winger and free role ability a forward like Griezmann has. Depay especially hasn’t been able to live up to the hype surrounding his big-money transfer from PSV during Summer, and concerns about the number 7 are beginning to grow at the Old Trafford. And LVG believes Antoine will come handy due to his experience playing in the La Liga since the start of his career.
Rafa Benitez desires to bring the former Real Sociedad player to his squad, possibly to link him up with Benzema at the front of his attack, following the chemistry and understanding they have seemed to forge whenever they play together for the French national team. Benitez sees this as added advantage, and getting the versatile forward from bitter rivals, Atletico is priority. Griezmann remains one of the best and most important players at the Vicente Calderon, and the Rojiblancos wouldn’t be willing to let go of him easily, especially to a club like Real Madrid. But being a selling-club, they might not be able to resist if Real Madrid brings a great offer to the table.
