Chelsea have made Argentina Striker their No. 1 target as Diego Costa Will Reportedly Return to Atletico Madrid

Chelsea are reportedly set to make a new bid for Gonzalo Higuaín in the upcoming summer transfer window after they failed to secure his services in January.

According to the Mirror, the Argentina striker has featured in Chelsea’s list pf top summer transfer target following is his spectacular goal-scoring form – Higuaín is scoring at a goal-a-game pace at Napoli.

The striker rejected a move to the Stamford Bridge in January after Chelsea failed to assure him of a first-choice striker role over Diego Costa. Higuain is understood to have been concerned that Chelsea made it clear that Costa was to remain as their first choice striker. Gonzalo Higuain is a long-term Chelsea target but it has only just emerged they launched a full-scale bid for him last month.

With Atletico Madrid reported to be keen on re-signing Costa, Chelsea have decided to step up their race for Higuaín who may be a potential replacement for Costa.

The Argentinian is on a good form having scored 24 goals in 24 Serie A appearances this season.
Although his contract is dated to end in 2018, Napoli may be willing to sell him if Chelsea will be ready to meet the £40 million release clause.
