“Our New Signee has Improved Arsenal” Claims Theo Walcott

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has revealed that the presence of Peter Cech has given the Emirates club a boost of morale. Walcott explains that Cech’s vocal nature between the sticks has encouraged the improvement at the back.

Cech swapped Chelsea’s bench for the No.1 role at the Emirates Stadium in the summer and he has indeed been very instrumental in the Gunners rise to the table.

Arsenal missed the chance to take home crucial 3 points that would have given them a rather stable and clear lead at the top of the Premier League after the clash with Stoke at Britannia Stadium. Although the Gunners carried home a single point after the barren 0-0 draw at Stoke, it was evident that Cech played a key role by making several major saves.

According to Walcott, the presence of the Czech Republic international helped them avoid defeat at Britannia Stadium, a ground where Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have all lost this term.

The mental strength in our dressing room is the strongest it has ever been,” Walcott told Standard Sport. “When you have the likes of Petr Cech coming in as well, he only enhances that. He has lifted everybody’s heads up, saying this is a very good point and that nobody tends to win here. “

We just have to look at him because he has been at the top level and won many things so if we have the belief that he has got, we can push on.

“It is always difficult looking back at games but we dropped two points at Liverpool and we felt it was going to be a tough match here. All the big teams that have come here have struggled with Stoke getting positive results. There were mixed emotions in the dressing room, I’m not going to lie, but it is probably a fair result.

“We felt from the start we were up for the fight, physically. We tried to unease them and did that. It’s a shame that we couldn’t get the result we desperately wanted but it is an improvement from previous performances here and we have got to be proud of that point.”
