Report: Woodward set to trigger release clause to seal 1st major summer transfer

The season isn’t even over yet and the rumor mill is heading into full swing. The transfer window might not be open yet, but Manchester United look set to name their first signing of it when they announce the signing of Renato Sanches.

Ed Woodward looks set to announce the deal is finalized as United have met the players release clause with their offer. Renato Sanches is extremely highly rated and has been scouted by every major team in Europe over the past few seasons. This season especially, Sanches has been in fine form and won a host of admirers from the European giants.

Widely seen as one of the brightest prospects in European football, Sanches was top of the list of Manchester United’s targets this summer and they have moved incredibly quickly to stop any other teams jumping the queue, according to the Manchester Evening News.

It has been a frustrating season for Manchester United, who find themselves in 5th position without having looked like title challengers at any point so far. It looks like a new manager and a host of new players is the answer from Ed Woodward.
The rumors are still flying around regarding Manchester United’s managerial situation, with Mourinho waiting in the wings to take over Louis Van Gaal and neither are said to be entirely sure what is going on, depending on what newspaper you believe. Most think Mourinho is on his way to bring trophies to United. Most people also think that whoever is in charge will need Renato Sanches over the next few years if they want to achieve their goals.
