Chelsea To Complete Transfer Of £75,000-A-Week Star Within 24 Hours

When Mohamed Salah arrived in the Premier League from FC Basel in the winter transfer window of the 2013/14 season, he did so with big expectations from the fans and his new teammates. Chelsea edged interest from rivals Liverpool and Tottenham to land him for a fee of £11 million and big things were expected from the Egyptian international.

However, fast forward a year to January 2015 and Salah had not made much of an iimpact. He was loaned out to Fiorentina as part of the deal to bring Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea. Then came the phenomenal turnaround that has brought us to this juncture.

While Cuadrado struggled for game time at Chelsea, Salah fitted in seamlessly at the Viola and could not stop providing goals and assists. He soon became their most important player and a huge fan favorite.

Fiorentina are now keen to extend his loan for another year with an option to buy for £18million after next season. However , reports have emerged that Chelsea are planning to use him as a makeweight in a deal for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.

With his future shrouded in mystery,Salah is reportedly set for showdown talks today with the Fiorentina hierarchy and incoming coach Paulo Sousa , before meeting with Chelsea officials later this week. A decision from the player is expected later today over the extension with Fiorentina.

Meanwhile, Serie A clubs Inter Milan and Juventus are also keenly monitoring Salah’s situation with a view to submitting a formal bid if the player reneges on the extension with Fiorentina.

For Salah, however, things seem to have come full circle. Going from a desired man to an unwanted reserve, he has again become a highly coveted prize for some of the top teams in Europe.
