Welcome To London? Chelsea To Table OFFICIAL £40m For WORLD STAR – Not Griezmann

Jose Mourinho is reportedly preparing to sanction a £40 million bid for England international, Raheem Sterling, according to several sources in the media.

Sterling has already rejected further contract talks with the Reds, and has told the club he wants to leave this summer. His decision not to come to the negotiation table with the management of his club has led the manager to shop for possible replacement. Only on Wednesday, the Reds officially announced the capture of Brazil international, Firmino, who will be making his move to the EPL subject to a successful medical.

According to ESPN, the Reds had earlier turned down a bid made by Manchester City for the signature of the player; but are braced for another improved bid from the former champions. Chelsea’s proposed bid, according to Sky Sports may fall short of Liverpool’s asking price. The Reds have placed Sterling’s asking price at £50 million. Liverpool as it seems, are hoping that a bidding war would ensue between City and Chelsea, which may further jack up the transfer value of the former Queens Park Rangers man.

Jose Mourinho’s interest in the player could be based on his resolve to boost his attacking line by signing a player that could offer more to the team in the final third.

Sterling may not have issues moving to Chelsea as he sees the Blues as having a better opportunity to helping him to realise his dream of winning the EPL title as well as playing regularly in the Champions League.
