Reports – Arsenal Set To Sign 29-Year Old Attacker, Wenger Likes Him

The transfer window is not always complete without Arsenal getting linked to ex-Lyon ace, Yoann Gourcuff. Latest reports have confirmed the 29-year old is on the radar of the north London club once again following his release by Lyon.

As per talkSPORT, Gourcuff could now be set for a move to the Emirates this summer, with Arsenal keen on signing the free agent.

Bordeaux have failed to agree terms on a deal recently, and Liverpool and Manchester City have joined the Gunners in the race for the player, Metro reports.

This news is however sure to be a mere media speculation, as Arsenal likely do not have any intentions to land the Frenchman. The report simply has “impossibility” written all over it.

Gourcuff’s best days are ahead of him and his addition to a team – who want to genuine push for the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles next term – would be somewhat strange.

Arsenal already have an influx of attacking players in their team, and as such, Gourcuff’s move to the Emirates stadium would be abhorrent, strange and unnecessary if done.

The transfer will not even make sense to the 29-year old ex-Bordeaux and Milan star too, as he is unlikely to displace the likes of Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez as the Arsenal attacking midfield options. Hence, he will be a non-starter at the club.

Gourcuff won the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup during his years at Milan. He also won the Ligue 1 title at Bordeaux before making a switch to Lyon, where he won the Coupe De France and Trophees des Champions.

Arsenal have so far signed Petr Cech this summer, with the Czech goalie arriving in a £10.9 million move from Chelsea.
