GREAT NEWS – Personal Terms Agreed – Arsenal Target Set To Sign Five Years Deal

Having signed Petr Cech from Chelsea some weeks back, Arsenal have appeared to be losing out on all its targets. From Geoffrey Kondogbia to Arturo Vidal and William Carvalho, all hopes seem to be lost, leaving Arsenal and its fans frustrated.

Wenger plans to make a genuine title push next term and he knows he can only achieve his target with the addition of world-class stars to his 2014-15 FA Cup-winning team.

The Gunners have been linked to several stars this summer, with Man City’s Edin Dzeko and Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema on the radar of the north London club.

However, Julian Draxler who also emerged as the latest player on the club’s radar seems to have been taken out of their grasp by Juventus, as per SportsMediaSet.

A report from Germany publication, Bild had claimed that Schalke are willing to cash in on the Germany international, with the Bundesliga club reportedly looking to sell Draxler and will likely bring in Xherdan Shaqiri, an ex-Bayern Munich player, as his replacement.

The 21-year old Schalke attacking midfielder has been pursued by a host of European top clubs including the Gunners, but now that the London club appear interested the most, Juventus have reportedly snapped him up.

As per Goal, Schalke sporting director, Horst Heldt confirmed that the Old Lady have been given permission to speak to Draxler while the two clubs are trying to agree a fee.

In the same report, the source suggests the deal may have hit the snag with the player featuring for Schalke in a friendly against Lechia Gdansk, and his agent, Roger Wittman saying Draxler has not made a decision to join the Serie A champions.

Wenger is known to be a keen admirer of Draxler, and likened him last season to former Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie, as he is very capable of playing as a lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation.

Draxler’s great hold-up play prowess is one of the qualities which stands him out, and this it is believed, would have been of immense benefit to the Gunners. The likes of speedsters, Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez will relish the opportunity of having a player as important as that in the squad.

Albeit Draxler is an out-and-out striker, signing him would have been a huge coup by the Gunners giving the fact that he can play the striking role like Robin Van Persie, who Wenger also converted. Arsenal’s problem in the striking department would have been solved with the addition of the German.

Despite being unfortunate with injuries last term, Draxler still managed 15 appearances, scoring 2 goals in the process. He was also part of the Germany World Cup squad in 2014, and has 15 caps for the national team (via Squawka).
