FINALLY A CB? Manchester United Set To Sign £35m WORLD CLASS CB

Manchester United have seen some of their top defensive targets slip from their grasp this summer and have now turned their attention elsewhere. Real Madrid duo of Sergio Ramos and Pepe, Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin and Everton’s John Stones arer some of the defenders the Red Devils have been linked with and, with moves for these players seeming impossible, Louis van Gaal’s side are now desperate.

This is as per Valencia’s Sport Deporte who state on their front page that the player the Premier League club are desperate for is Valencia defender leader Nicolas Otamendi.

Phil Jones mild thrombosis which has sidelined him for a period of two weeks has brought about the need for the team to sign a top defender and the Spain-based newspaper say they are keenly interested in signing Otamendi quickly.

The Spanish media outlet claim per Sport Witness that they got their inspiration from what they call “reports in all of the British media on Sunday” that Manchester United are back in for Otamendi, and could indeed table an offer to land the Argentine defender this summer.

Jones is understood to be seen by van Gaal as a stalwart in the team’s defence and his loss for the aforementioned reported period has opened the former Bayern Munich manager to the reality that he really needs to strengthen in that area.

The Red Devils’ gaffer fielded Daley Blind as Chris Smalling’s partner in the central defence against Tottenham in the new Premier League season curtain raiser at Old Trafford on Saturday and the Netherlands star was a bit shaky. Question marks has now arose as to whether Blind can cut it in being a top class defender, or if van Gaal is committed to fixing his compatriot in any role in the team.

This news is not something new bar only the “desperate” part. As Sport Witness postulates, the possibility of Otamendi moving to Old Trafford is not over. Not now, as the transfer window still has three weeks remaining before it shuts.
