Manchester United Likely Line Up For Aston Villa

The Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal said in his press conference yesterday ahead of today’s match that want-away goalkeeper David De Gea, Marcos Rojo, and Phil Jones will all not feature in the game against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

This has brought us to a suggestion that United will names an almost unchanged side. Captain Wayne Rooney is expected to lead the line in attack, with Memphis Depay probably starting behind the Englishman as seen against Tottenham on Saturday.

Van Gaal confirmed that “in normal circumstances” Sergio Romero will continue in goal, while the defence will definitely pick itself – Matteo Darmian is to continue his impressive performance against Spurs last week at right back, Luke Shaw should be in the left-back position, and the centre-back pair of Chris Smalling and Daley Blind is what will be witnessed at Birmingham tonight with Jones still out due to mild thrombosis.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is likely to have his first start for United, as he may have to come into the midfield if the Red Devils change formation. But if van Gaal sees the experienced German not hitting the right level of match fitness and fluency yet, the same midfield pairing of Michael Carrick and Morgan Schneiderlin – which we saw last weekend – could be called upon to start the game.
