Manchester United Conclude Plans To Sign £35m Rated La Liga Star Ahead Of January Transfer Window

Confirmed reports from Old Trafford have revealed that Manchester United were interested in bringing Atletico Madrid’s shot stopper, Jan Oblak from the Vicente Calderon during the Summer transfer. Madrid’s keeper, Keylor Navas was the only goalie that was named as a replacement for David Degea in the eventuality of the Spain’s international departure to Bernabeu, however Oblak was also a transfer target. Oblak has established himself as the one who gets the nod to start in goal for Atletico following the departure of Thibaut Courtois to Chelsea last Summer.

United were on the fringe of losing Degea to the La Liga giants, and Navas was ready to move the other way, until the deal fell through on transfer deadline day. Degea has gone on to sign a new 4 year deal for the Red Devils, while the La Liga duo of Navas and Oblak stayed with the Madrid clubs and have done well so far. Oblak has kept 4 clean sheets, while Keylor has 5 to himself. Both were seen as worthy replacements for Degea and could still make a move by winter if the 24 year-old eventually leaves for his home country.

Despite Degea’s new deal that makes him a recipient of 200,000 Pounds per week in wages, it is still believed he has heart set on a Madrid move, as a buyout clause, which he refused to reveal has been included in his deal. And at such, Jan Oblak could still be turned to. But at the moment, Degea has been spectacular for the Red Devils after regaining his position which he lost to Romero at the beginning of the season due to the saga.
