Former Chelsea and Liverpool star backs ‘best manager in the world’ to clinch Premier League

Former Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole believes that despite their on-going struggles, Chelsea are still capable of winning the Premier League title this season. The Coventry City player has backed Jose Mourinho to lead the Blues out of their slump and has also claimed that he is the best manager in the world of football.

The Blues are currently 17 points off the top of the table after 15 rounds of games, but Cole believes they are fully capable of going on an unbeaten run from now to the end of the season. The London club’s next challenge is a trip to the King Power Stadium to face table-toppers Leicester City on Monday night.

The 34-year old currently plays for League One club Coventry City after joining them on a loan deal from Aston Villa during the summer.

Cole told Sky Sports: ”Anything is possible, and that’s why we watch football. You can’t rule them out as champions – that team could beat everyone from now until the end of the season. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but it’s football. It’ll be interesting in the next few weeks. The fans haven’t turned; they’re right behind the manager and the chairman.”

“The main thing you’ve got to think about is you’ve got the best manager in the world there… fact. That’s not down to opinion; he’s the most decorated over the different leagues. For Chelsea to move forward, you’ve got to stick with the manager and let him do what he does best. I don’t think anyone can dispute his record, and I’m sure he’ll be relishing turning it around.”

Cole signed for Chelsea in 2003 and went on to win three Premier League titles with the club during his seven-year stint with the club. Following his spell with the Blues, he spent time with the likes of Liverpool, West Ham and Aston Villa.
