Guardiola to Man Utd

Guardiola to Manchester far from being done as Chelsea enter race to lure Pep

Reports from the Daily Mail have revealed that Chelsea’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich is doing everything he can to make in-demand manager Pep Guardiola choose the Blues over Manchester City.

The Spanish coach has declared that he will be leaving his present club Bayern Munich in the summer. This has alerted some of the biggest clubs in European football and household names such as Manchester United and Manchester City are rumoured to be making attempts to sign the former Barcelona coach. Mega-rich Manchester City are the favourites to sign Guardiola, but a report in the Daily Mail has revealed that the Cityzens have some real competition in the form of Chelsea.

The Blues sacked Jose Mourinho last week and appointed Guus Hiddink as their interim manager. In the long term however, their uber-rich owner has identified Guardiola as the man he would like to hand over his club’s footballing affairs to. Abramovich has a tough task on his hand as almost every single report has suggested that Manchester City will be the club that Pep ultimately joins.

Not one to take no for an answer, Abramovich has decided to make use of Guardiola’s wife’s fancy to live in London as a deciding factor in this tug of war.

Alongside this, the Chelsea boss is reported to be willing to make Guardiola the highest paid manager in the world of football if he were to move to Stamford Bridge. That would mean that Guardiola would be paid more than the 250,000 pounds a week that Chelsea were paying Mourinho until last Thursday.

The Pep Guardiola saga is proving to be the most popular story in the world of football with every football lover trying to gauge where he goes next. Bayern Munich Chief Executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge however, has claimed that he is aware of Guardiola’s next port of call even though he has chosen not to reveal it.

Speaking to the media, he said, “I think I know where he is going. But I want to leave the announcement to him or his new employer. At the Christmas party two weeks ago he came to me, he told me that he was looking for a new challenge and almost apologised. It was clearly difficult for him, I’m not disappointed in him.”
