Arsenal Line Up Three January Deals Worth £240-000-A-Week

According to reports, Arsenal are planning to go on a £60 million spending spree to bring in three players in the January transfer window. While two of the players (Sami Khedira and Julian Draxler) have regularly been linked to the club, the other (Anderson Talisca) is just new on the blocks.

Looking at the players on a case by case basis, Sami Khedira has long been within the radar of Arsenal especially in the summer when a deal to sign him from Real Madrid fell through. The 27 year old would be a free agent next summer, and his free to negotiate with any club starting from January. There have been suggestions that Real Madrid could decide to sell him in January as he has barely featured because of a recent injury which required surgery. Should Arsenal decide to fan up their interest again, what is left to be agreed would be his wages. The German World Cup winner has been suggested as a possible solution to the club’s weakness in central midfield as he possess the physicality and height to add some dynamism to the middle of the park for Arsenal.

On the other hand, fellow German Julian Draxler should have been an Arsenal player in January, after the club was strongly linked to the 20 year old Schalke midfielder who plays predominantly from the left wing. It was thought that Arsene Wenger had envisage a situation of converting him to a striker just as he did with the some players previously in the books of the club ala Robin Van Persie. A fee of between £20-£30 million was believed to be what Arsenal was willing to bid for his services in January. The player had confirmed Arsenal’s interest in his services during the World Cup in Brazil, despite claims to the contrary, he stated that he turned down a move to North London in January. It seems with this reports that Arsenal still have plans to increase the German contingent in the club by signing him.

While Anderson Talisca is a Brazilian Under-20 international that joined Benfica from Brazilian club Bahia in the summer for a fee of €4 million, the 20 year old who can play both as a striker and an attacking midfielder is currently the top scorer in the Premiera liga in Portugal, scoring six goals in seven league games. The 6ft 2in forward is new to European football as he is still adapting to the game.

It remains to be seen how these deals develops when the transfer windows.
