Walcott, Gnabry, Arteta & Ramsey All Set To Miss Hull City Clash

Following the end of the latest round of international matches involving Arsenal players, a snippet of what Arsenal’s team would look like in the Premier League match against Hull City at the Emirates this weekend have started to emerge.

According to reports, the Hull City game would come too soon for Theo Walcott and Serge Gnabry. Both players returned to full training last week after ligament and Knee injuries respectively. The same applies to Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey who are still making their way from calf and hamstring injuries respectively.

Arsene Wenger’s update last week on the official site was along the line that Mikel Arteta was still on the mend and could be ready for the Hull City match at the weekend. While Aaron Ramsey would asserted to be weeks away from being ready from his hamstring strain. Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey have like for like replacements in Mathieu Flamini and Jack Wilshere respectively, but the main concern ahead of this weekend match is the uncertainty trailing the participation of Laurent Koscielny and who would pair Per Mertesacker in central defence on Saturday.

Laurent Koscielny is carrying an Achilles injury in both on his tendons, and there are indications that Arsene Wenger could opt to rest him against Steve Bruce Hull City. Calum Chambers is suspended for the match as a result of accumulating five yellow cards in just seven league games.

As a result, Arsenal is facing the prospect of using Nacho Monreal as a partner for Per Mertesacker in the match against Hull City, while Hector Bellerin could be in for his first Premier League start at right back.

The injuries suffered in the attacking side of the team have not hit the squad hard as a result of the number of players that could cover for the likes of Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Oliver Giroud; however the same cannot be said of the situation in defence as depicted by the scenario above. Where Calum Chambers is already ruled out because of suspension and the next in line is the inexperienced Hector Bellerin who has just two senior appearances to his name, all coming this season. While it is not yet clear whether Laurent Koscielny that has been nursed since the season started would be fit enough to face Hull City. The dearth of numbers in defence is evidently clear with the lack of options available due to injuries and suspension.

The picture would become clear when Arsene Wenger gives his press conference later in the week.
