LVG To Axe Some Players, Plan £25m For EPL Star, Moves For Bayern Star Too

Reports have emerged in the media that Manchester United manager Luis van Gaal is plotting sweeping changes to his team. According to the Daily Star, the Dutchman is set to axe Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling as part of sweeping changes to make his team more effective.

As part of the changes, the Dutchman plans to delve into the transfer to sign some established players, who may command hefty transfer sums. Players that have touted as possible replacements for the trio include; Diego Godin, Rafael Varane and Mats Hummels.

Also on LVG’s shopping lists is £25 million Everton right-back, Seamus Coleman, whom he plans to use as a replacement for Rafael, who is no longer wanted by the Dutchman.

The Dutchman, who is feeling the heat from both the press and the fans after last weekend’s loss to Southampton, is expected to wield the axe in order to make his team formidable. The team, which went on 11 match winning streak, was poor in the final third; failing to register a single shot on goal for the first time in five years.

The jury is already out, and LVG knows that except some sweeping changes are made to his Red Devil’s team, the pressure may not seize. The team was without Colombian international Radamel Falcao when they lost to Southampton, and no reason in particular has been given by the manager for failing to name him in the starting line up; even though there are various speculations about the decision.

The Daily Star  is also linking United with a move for Bayern’s Thomas Muller, who once worked with LVG when he was the manager of the German club. Also being linked with a move to the EPL is Frenchman Paul Pogba, who is rated as one of the most exciting midfielders in Europe. Once a Red Devil, Pogba is likely to command a hefty transfer fee considering the fact that his stock has risen since he left United a couple of years ago.
