Welcome To Emirates – Arsenal On The VERGE Of Signing 6ft 4in Midfielder

Wenger’s quest to shore up the engine room of his team has extended its dragnet to current Stoke powerhouse, Steven N’Zonzi, according to France Football.

The 26-year old former youth French international has been an ever-present in the heart of the Stoke midfield; and little wonder several other clubs including Arsenal and some Spanish teams are after his services. The magazine revealed that top English clubs as well as some other clubs in Europe are looking to prize him away from his mid-table club.

With Wenger’s interest in Morgan Schneiderlin not yielding much result in recent times, the Frenchman appears set to look elsewhere, and N’Zonzi presents him something close to what he wants.

Per the report, N’Zonzi’s agent was also quoted as saying that other clubs are on queue for the player’s signature; which means Arsenal may have to firm up their interest if they hope to price him away from Stoke City.

N’Zonzi joined Stoke in 2012, and has appeared 109 times for the club; scoring 6 goals during the period. Though, not yet a full international; he is no doubt one of the most industrious players in the EPL, and would have earned his full caps for France, but for stiff competition coming from the likes of Kondogbia, Pogba, and Schneiderlin.

Wenger wants to sign a defensive midfielder to create a balance in his team. It is believed that the signing of a defensive powerhouse would help the Gunners challenge for the EPL title in the coming season.
