£21m Chelsea Target To Fly In For Medical, Will Sign For Manchester United Tomorrow

Goal carried a report last month that Manchester United will sign Benfica attacker Nicolas Gaitan, if Angel Di Maria gets the move he so wishes to Paris Saint-Germain. With Di Maria’s move, done, dusted, announced and finally completed, the Red Devils are now confident Gaitan is theirs, as they have a verbal agreement with the Argentina international star, Metro reports.

Reports emanating from British sources have claimed Benfica forward Nicolas Gaitan will play his last game for the Portuguese outfit on Sunday ahead of a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Metro says United are set to sign Gaitan for £21.1m, and the former Boca Juniors ace is set to fly in to Manchester next week to complete the move. Furthermore, the Benfica ace has also told his club and those close to him that he fancies playing for the Red Devils.

Gaitan, 27, has also courted interests from several La Liga top clubs as they want to add him to their teams to bolster their attacks. The Argentine joined Benfica in 2010 for £8.4 (per Irish Independent) and will now be looking to cut it where his coompatriot has failed.

Interestingly, Di Maria also played for the Portuguese Champions before switching to Real. The talented forward can play as an attacking midfielder behind the striker or on either wings and will be a great addition to the United attack. Gaitan enjoyed success with Benfica last term, winning the Portuguese League as well as the Taca de Liga.

Meanwhile, United are also closing in on Barcelona attacker Pedro youngster – who reports have claimed is set to play his last game for the Nou Camp landlords on Tuesday against Sevilla in the Super Cup.

What needs to be seen now is how Louis van Gaal will accomodate Gaitan and Pedro, provided they both sign. But he is van Gaal, the man with lots of philosophies!
