ALMOST DONE – £23.5m Chelsea & Arsenal Target Agrees Move, Personal Terms Agreed

Arsenal and Chelsea are set to lose out on the signing of AS Roma centre back, Alessio Romanogli, according to reports.

Romanogli has been a target for the Premier league duo, however Napoli seem to be more desperate lo land the young defender.

As per Express, Roma have placed a £25 million price-tag on Romanogli, and reports coming out from Italian sources suggest Napoli are willing to meet that price with a bid of €28million (£23.5m) plus €2million (£1.5m) in add-ons.

The news will hit Arsenal as a big blow as the club appear unwilling to meet that kind of fee for the 20-year old Italian. Arsene Wenger has always maintained a will of offering a particular amount he feels a player is worth to the player’s club for his services. However, the market is inflated and players are always bought at colossal amount which they sometimes do not worth.

Clubs do not want to lose their important players, and as a result they put a huge amount of fee on the player’s head in order to scare potential suitors. The belief is that even if they would lose that kind of player, their reward would be the huge sum they would be receiving.

Meanwhile, It is also understood that Romanogli would fancy a move to AC Milan but the Rosonneri too do not want to pay that kind of figure for the centre-back. Express understands they are willing to part with only £20million to secure the player’s services.

Now the player is set for Napoli and will fight Faouzi Ghoulam for a starting berth in the Napoli team, should the Algerian – who has been linked with Atletico Madrid – stay

Romanogli played at Sampdoria on loan from AS Roma last campaign, and racked up a number of impressive performances. As per Squawka, he won 50 of his 82 aerial duels, as well as, 35 of his 70 attempted tackles.
