Arsenal close to finalizing the transfer of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach
Arsenal is known for its well-negotiated and effective transfers since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil from Barcelona and Real Madrid FC respectively.
Having struggled to be in the title race this season, Arsenal is looking forward to reinforcing its midfield and attack this summer and that is why it’s keen on finalizing the transfer of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach and Karim Benzema from Real Madrid.
Granit Xhaka is a 23-year-old Swiss defending midfielder. He played for Basel before joining Borussia Monchengladbach. His performance this season has impressed Arsene Wenger, who is keen to replace the likes of Mathew Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky who are expected to leave the club.
Indeed, Arsenal has had midfield and defensive concerns this season with most of its midfielders such as Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere all struggling to recover from injuries, gain form and make an impact to the team’s title charge. Granit Xhaka will cost the club £20-£30M if the transfer is successful and this, according to soccer analysts will be money well spent.
Arsenal has also retained its interest in Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema. Olivier Giroud has not been quite impressive in the central attacking position and this has continued to fuel the speculation that Karim Benzema will finally sign for the Gunners, with Robert Lewandowski or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang expected to take his position at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Indeed, with Arsenal buying players like Granit Xhaka and Karim Benzema, it will continue fighting for titles. This will be so especially if, on the other hand, its best players like Alexis Sanchez (who has been linked with a move to Bayern) don’t leave the club.
