Arsenal’s Predicted Starting XI To Face Manchester United

Arsenal will be facing Manchester United on Sunday and already have their work cut out for them with some very tactic shattering injuries they have to contend with. The match is a must wine for Arsenal who are currently lying fourth on the English Premiership table with 3 points behind League leaders, Manchester United. However, with Petr Cech coming back from a minor calf injury and Coquelin just back and Koscielny out, let us see what the squad will look like against Manchester United on Sunday.

Goalkeeper

Petr Cech should return between Arsenal posts and replace fumbling Ospina. David Ospina is a fantastic shot stopper but obviously not good for set-pieces and looked like he was very nervous against Olympiakos. Seeing Petr Cech back in goal is going to inspire confidence across North London. Hopefully, he will have fully recovered from his calf injury and Wenger will not be reasonable enough to use him and not stick with his Ospina to prove nothing.

Defence

Hector Bellerin was given the start against Olympiakos and will definitely be a little fatigued but will still have to play against Manchester United because of the speed United have in their wings which Debuchy will not be able to contend with.

Kieran Gibbs did not do so badly against Olympiakos but seeing Nacho Monreal will make Arsenal fans and maybe even the players feel better and more confident. So Nacho Monreal should be given a start against the Red Devils.

It does not look like Laurent Koscielny will be fit enough for the crucial match which will definitely need some hard defensive workouts and so the Gabriel Paulista will have to pair Per Mertesacker in the middle. Mertesacker will resume duties in the center of defense while Gabriel will be left to cope with United’s pace and strong plays and tactics.

Midfield

Francis Coquelin was back against Olympiakos and should therefore start against United on Sunday. He was even brought off and this will have helped him to keep fresh for Sunday’s game. Coquelin is hard to get past and will be needed especially with Koscielny being absent.

Santi Cazorla should also continue pairing Coquelin and maybe be given the chance to get in some shots on target and rattle United’s defence with his plays.

Alexis Sanchez seems to be getting better and better every time he takes the pitch and should definitely keep his place in the squad. He has now scored 8 times in all competitions. He is a very committed player who always gives his all and has earned the nickname, “Commando”. United’s defence have their work cut out for them with Sanchez.

Aaron Ramsey should continue out on the right. He has not been delivering so much but is a player who needs just one spark and his fire is lit and blazing. Therefore it is best to start him and hope he will make the difference in the match.

Mesut Ozil should start in his free role position behind the striker, a position he seems to love best and one good thing with him is that he performed badly against Olympiakos and is a player who does not perform badly twice in a row, so he will definitely do well against United.

Striker

Theo Walcott should be given another run out despite Giroud missing the Olympiakos match with a suspension. Walcott is starting to come into his element and it would be tough to lose his speed against this United defense. His speed is exactly what will be needed against United’s defence on Sunday and hopefully, he will convert some of the chances that will be created.
