Arturo Vidal Arrested For Drink Driving ; Likely To Be Excluded From Chile Squad

News as this will unsettle the Chilean national team and Juventus. It is being reported that star midfielder and Arsenal target  Aturo Vidal has been involved in a car mishap in Spain after taking alcohol and he could be excluded from the Chile squad that will play in the Copa America,  as per Gazetta dello Sports ( via journalist Tancredi Palmeri).

The accident happened on a high way south of Santiago – after giving an off-day from football, the 28-year-old went out with his family and on their return; Vidal was running beyond the speed limit before the incident happened. Vidal and his wife were transferred to San Luis di Santiago hospital for first aid treatment.

After several diagnoses, traces of alcohol were found in the blood samples of Vidal and he was taken away by the police and charged for drunk driving. Following his arrest by the police, Coach Jorge Sampaoli seems disappointed and Vidal might be asked to leave the camp of Chilean.

Meanwhile, Arsenal who are looking for a defensive midfielder to bolster their rank have been keeping tabs on the tough-tackling midfielder. The latest news would apparently be a turn-off for Arsene Wenger who has been known to be a disciplinarian.

Over the period Wenger has been in charge of the Gunners, he has always had his players under his control. When Szczesny was found smoking, Wenger rebuked him and the player subsequently lost his place for the misdemeanour. For Vidal, this might signal the end of Arsenal’s interest in the player.

Arsenal currently has Francis Coquelin as their only reliable midfielder and their currently looking a player in the mould of Vidal to school Coquelin in the defensive midfield position.
