Chelsea Felipe Luis Sold Back To Atletico Madrid For £15m

Chelsea have reportedly sold Filipe Luis back to Atletico Madrid just after one season he signed for Chelsea.  The Brazilian could not break into Chelsea’s squad as the club manager Jose Mourinho preferred using Cesar Azpilicueta on the left side of defence and Branislave Ivanovic on the right side.

The 29-year-old defender was frustrated by lack of first team football and has been linked with a move back to Spain, to join his former club Atletico Madrid this summer as Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has confirmed that the La Liga club are presently in the middle of negotiations on a deal with Chelsea for the player to move to Spain and the two clubs have reportedly agreed on a fee for the player which is in the regions of £15 million.

This is a bad piece of business of course as the defender arrived at the Stamford Bridge less than one year ago from Atletico Madrid for 15.8 million pounds but is returning to the Spanish club for 15 million pounds which is 800, 000 pounds less than the original fee Chelsea bought him but the scoop is that this risk is being taken by Chelsea because they hope that Atletico Madrid will be able to allow Antoine Griezmann join the English Premiership side who have been pining after the attacking midfielder for a while.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said concerning the transfer that, “If they want him back they have to pay, they have to pay and then we have to react and go to the market to keep our balance.

It is believed that this market that Mourinho means is the Atletico Madrid squad and is no other player but Antoine Griezmann as the English League side are already almost completing the signature of Augsburg left-back Abdul Baba Rahman who will likely be the defender’s replacement at the Stamford Bridge. The fee has been agreed and the player will soon be with Chelsea.

It is however, left to be seen if Atletico Madrid fans will welcome Felipe Luis back with open arms as they reportedly hate him at the moment and consider him a traitor who left the club when the side needed him most and is now coming back because he could not make a headway in the club he left them for and it is left to be seen if the club will be ready to release Antoine Griezmann for Chelsea.
