Chelsea Offers New 5-Year Deal Worth £40,000-a-week to a Young Star, Man Utd to Lose Out
Chelsea starlet Ruben Loftus-Cheek is nearing towards agreeing on a new long-term deal with the club, amidst interest from Man Utd. The 19-year old’s current contract with the club runs out next summer, but according to The Telegraph, the Blues are eager to tie him down to a new deal.
The Chelsea academy graduate scored the first senior goal of his career in the 2-0 FA Cup win over Scunthorpe United on Sunday. He has attracted interest from a number of clubs, particularly from Man Utd, but he is ready to snub their interests and commit his future to the Blues.
Premier League champions are planning to offer him a five-year deal with £40,000 weekly wages.
Speaking after the FA Cup win, Hiddink said: “We have these youngsters, and I know them now after three to four weeks, and I know their abilities and when it’s a possibility, an option I don’t hesitate to bring them in.”
“It was a lovely clean finish. He [Loftus-Cheek] waits, he waits, he waits and he comes in at the right moment. He can be of big value now. He’s 19 (but) I thought he was 22, 23 when I came in, he’s a proper grown player already but he’s 19.”
