Chelsea Open Official Talks Over The Transfer Of £120-A-Week Star

The tension of watching from the side-lines having been at the centre of all the action for several years is beginning to take its toll on Petr Cech. Ever since his return from the loan spell at Atletico Madrid over the summer, Belgian star Thibaut Coutouis has displaced the Czech Republic shot stopper. The Daily Star has reported that Spanish Champions Atletico Madrid are interested in Petr Cech with the veteran shot stopper fuming over playing deputy to Coutouis and have opened officials talks with Chelsea.

Cech has let his frustration out when he stated that if he doesn’t get regular games at the Stamford Bridge, it might affect his chances of making the Czech Republic national team list in the European Championships set for 2016. The goalkeeper who wants to be involved more regularly before then further explained to Czech radio that;

‘I think they know me well enough at Chelsea to know that the situation is definitely not the way I would imagine. With the European Championships in 2016 and the national team in mind, there is no time for me to sit on the bench and not to play. I have not spoken to anybody at the club but if the situation will not start to improve for me then I will want to solve it.’

Petr Cech who made 16 clean sheets for the Blues last season might now be willing to ditch the Premier League leaders for more game time with the Spanish Champions at Atletico. At 32, the versatile shot stopper still has about 5 more seasons to display at the highest level and if Jose Mourinho won’t afford him the first team position any more, Petr at the moment will never fail to attract suitors. In fact he should force a move by January when the memory of his exploits still lingers in the minds of several top clubs.

Even if the 32-year-old decides to stay at the English Premiership, he could still catch the fancy of clubs like Liverpool who will really relish the opportunity to have such an experienced safe hands between the sticks at Anfield. Manchester City too could use his services to bring stiff completion to both Joe Hart and Will Caballero.

Furthermore, with the recent performance of Iker Casillas at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Chelsea man might just switch over to the European Champions and establish himself as the number one.
