Finally break the bank? Wenger to spend £150m budget on Bundesliga megastar duo

Arsenal is set to surprise us all. Yes ladies and gentlemen, the Gunners are looking to break the bank to upgrade their squad. The Gunners are reportedly to open talks with two highly-rated Bundesliga stars. Arsene Wenger has a single year remaining on his current deal. He is looking to do some business that can give Arsenal fans and the board alike renewed confidence.

Arsene Wenger is chasing goals scoring powerhouse, Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker has gone from strength to strength following a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund to fierce rivals Bayern Munich in January 2014.

The Polish striker still has three years remaining on his current deal and the Bundesliga giants will be looking to keep their target man. Should he leave, the Bundesliga side will expect a few above £50 million. That will not worry Arsene Wenger as he has been handed a budget of £150 million thanks to income from TV deals.

The striker has suggested that should interest from a European giant occur, he will consider his options. He told France Football: “Maybe I’ll play in England or Spain one day. I don’t know what my future will look like but at the moment I’m happy at Bayern.”

A high – profile move to the Premier league could tempt the striker.  Especially because the Gunners lack a world – class striker to lead their line.

Another player on Arsenals radar is £20 million Julian Weigl who currently plays for Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder has been in fine form in recent months and Wenger will be looking to add him as his style of play has led to comparisons to Sergio Busquets.
The Arsenal fans will be hoping these are not just rumours. They have heard rumours swirl year after year about bringing in stars. However,  Arsene Wenger never truly sees the need. Could the pressure of the fans be getting to the French manager? If so will he act decisively this window to strengthen his squad in an attempt to reach their ambitions.
