Frustrated Mourinho To Hand Loftus-Cheek To Get Regular First Team Shirt

Chelsea lost their 4th game of the new season to Southampton on Saturday, and having gathered just 8 points from 8 matches as a result of 2 wins and 2 draws, their hopes of retaining last season’s title looks shattered. And with the side’s Portuguese handler looking at recovering from such poor start after the resumption from the international break, he is poised to bring in changes to his starting 11, with 19 year-old midfielder, Ruben Loftus-Cheek tipped to start in the match against Aston Villa and hopefully break into the first team.

“Ruben, Matic, Ramires, Fabregas – who can cope better with the pressure? I know Fabregas for sure but maybe the situation is so negative for us that maybe now a young player feels less pressure. it is not time to play kids because some of  them are not ready. But I think Ruben is a case where he is one who is more ready so if everything goes normal during these two weeks, yes, he is a player to start the next game. I was never afraid of responsibilities and I have to persuade Ruben not to feel the pressure because if somebody should feel pressure he is the last.”

RLC’s inclusion hence will see one of the regulars get axed, a decision Mourinho already promise to make following their woeful display since the season started. Ruben has only featured as a substitute this term, after having broke into the senior team last season following his impressive displays with the youth side and in the few senior appearances he made. He is the only academy player of recent poised to see more playing time this season. Mourinho also believes the team can pull themselves together and get back up if they unify. In his words,

“Three months ago we were all together in the bus with the cups. So it is time for us to be together now at the bottom of the league.”
