Injury Boost For The Gunners Ahead Of Stoke City
Arsenal face Stokes City after the international break, and they will be hoping to take all 3 points away from the match after a shaky start to the new season. And with no new outfield signing and a couple of injuries to the side, their performances haven’t really been topnotch, but the importance of getting back to winning ways cannot be overemphasized, and it seems they have the squad to do it following their injury boost towards the fixture.
The pair of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny will be available to play together at the central of the defense, after some time of not being together. Laurent missed the game against Liverpool due to a back injury, while the German defender, Mertesacker missed the last 2 games as a result of a viral infection. Koscielny featured for France against Portugal, and was rested against Serbia, so he is fit and back in training. He will be starting the Stokes match alongside his partner in crime, Mertesacker.
Tomas Rosciky is however still on the sidelines after the surgery on his knees, and wont be available until October. Jack Wilshere wont also be available, as he is yet to fully recover from a fracture to his left fibula. But the England international should join the squad in few weeks’ time. Danny Welbeck is out of action until next year, after Roy Hodgson confirmed that the knee operation the player underwent will at least confine him to 6 months on the sidelines. In their absence, Wenger can look at the other members of the squad for a great outcome against Stokes.
