Injury News – Manchester City Fans Star Recovering Well From Injury

Manchester City star midfielder Samir Nasri has been ruled out for a month after undergoing surgery for a groin injury. This mean he will miss some fixtures, like today’s champion leagues match against Roma, and also that against CSKA Moscow and Premier League matches against Aston Villa, Tottenham and West Ham.

Tweeting from his hospital bed, Nasri posted a picture of him on his hospital bed and posted alongside the picture “Thanks for the support, Surgery went well! Now time for the recovery! He was operated on after it was noticed that he was suffering from pain in his groin, and thus not giving his best during training. Hence, he was operated on, so as not to aggravate the injury.

His injury comes during a campaign that sees the citizens defend their league title, and as such, his injury will be seen as a setback by fans considering his immense contributions towards the blue half of Manchester lifting the trophy during the 2013-2014 campaign. His is not the only injury that Manchester City FC has to contend with. The likes of Fernando, Jovetic, Aguero, Silva et al have all been hit by one injury or the other.

Fernando has been on the sidelines after the fixture with Stoke City and missed crunch  matches against Arsenal, Chelsea and most importantly the champions league match against Bayern Munich, which the citizens lost after a last minute strike by Jerome Boateng (formerly of Manchester City) despite the heroics of Joe Hart. Jovetic is also another player who has missed crunch matches due to injury. He suffered a hamstring injury earlier this season, and this came at a time when he was experiencing a change in fortune. Silva also suffered an ankle injury while Aguero also suffered a knee injury after the match against Hull City. Matija Nastasic is also another injured player who is suffering from a knock, while Alvaro Negredo is still recovering from a Metatarsal injury (though on loan at Valencia).

With the amount of players injured, a fan would be forgiven for maybe being pessimistic about the chances of the club, but the shrewd transfer business carried out by the club under the guidance of Pellegrini and Begiristain has certainly made up for the injuries. The addition of Frank Lampard (on loan from New York FC), Eliaquim Mangala, Fernando and Caballero has seen the depth within the squad strengthened and as such the club has absolutely no excuse for failure. Already Lampard has stepped into the pivotal role of filling up for Nasri, and he is doing a very good job of it, coming from the bench to rescue a point against his former side Chelsea, scoring a brace against Sheffield Wednesday, and then sinking Hull during the weekend will in no small terms make up for the loss of Nasri to a long term injury.

There is good news however as both Silva and Aguero are expected to be in the starting lineup against Roma tonight and city fans should be cheered watching them work their magic. Also Fernando is expected back, though he will not be playing tonight according to Pellegrini, but this is good news for the fans, the “Octopus” has shown glimpses of quality during the few matches he started. So, all in all, the citizens should look towards another exciting campaign, which should be rounded up with the title chase being a dog fight between Manchester City FC and Chelsea FC, with the writer tipping Manchester city to go all the way to retain the title.
