Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool ready to hijack Antonio Conte’s top target with £23.3m bid

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen to reunite with Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic at Liverpool for a fee in the region of €30m, the Croatian international only joined the Italian side from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015 for €16m with his performances for both club and country sky-rocketing his price tag in just a year.

The Liverpool manager is a big admirer of the Croatian, as the duo worked together at German side, Borussia Dortmund for 2 years. Perisic is versatile across the frontline, fitting in on either side of the wing or behind the main striker. He has featured in 35 matches for Inter, scoring eight times and assisting 5.

According to reports, Liverpool are prepared to pay the €30m to convince the Croatian to move to Merseyside as they look to beat Chelsea and and their new boss, Antonio Conte to the signing. Antonio Conte is also said to be an admirer of the winger.

Perisic however, insists he is happy at Inter. He said: “Inter is a big step in my career. They are a big club and I will do my best to perform well here. “I really like Italy and Inter. When I was a kid I used to watch several leagues and knew the names of all the greats that have played for this club. Italy is a gorgeous country and I really like it. He also directed eventual suitors to talk to inter about a move.
“I’ve got a five-year contract and I’m coming to the end of the first, which means I still have four to run. You never know in football though, but if someone was interested they’d need to talk to Inter,” he said.
