Manchester United Injury News Update – Schweinsteiger, Carrick & Rooney

Germany international, Schweinsteiger picked up a knock on his thigh before the shocking Euro qualifiers’ loss to Republic of Ireland. German Football Association tweeted shortly before the match,

“@BSchweinsteiger picked up an injury during the pre-match warm-up and will miss the game.”

It is not certain how many days he will need to recover, but he remains a doubt for the Everton clash next week. Joachim Low confirmed he will need to get a green light from the medical team in order to confirm if to feature the ace midfielder in their crucial final qualifiers against Georgia on Sunday.

Carrick had a recurrence of his groin issues during the mid-week training as England prepared to face Estonia on Friday, and was spared in order not to get further complications, eventually making him to withdraw from the squad as they prepare for their last qualifiers against Lithuania on Monday.

Rooney also had to be excused for the match, as the highest goal scorer of all times for England is in discomfort with an ankle injury. And Roy Hodgson chose not to risk him in light of the crucial United games ahead. England have already qualified for next Summer’s continental tournament, and wont require the services of both Rooney and Carrick. However, United needs their services, but it is not yet known for how long the squad will be without it.
