Manchester United Star Injured On National Team Duty

There are injury concerns over Dutch duo of Robin Van Persie and Arjen Robben. The pair missed the Netherland training amidst speculations over their fitness according to reports.

Robin Van Persie and Arjen Robben were both called up for Netherland’s Euro 2016 qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Iceland but it appears the duo will be missing out due to injury.

Van Persie has struggled with injuries over the past few months but have returned to action for Manchester United and had seemed to be nearing full fitness after starting consecutive games for Manchester United.

Van Persie has had his own share of injury starting from his early days at Arsenal which was riddled with injuries here and there. However the 31-year-old has managed to stay fit over a couple of seasons one of which was a stellar albeit last season for Arsenal scoring 30 league goals for the Gunners and winning the golden boot award. He also managed to stay away from injury in his first season at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson but has somewhat struggled with injuries under David Moyes and now Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United.

Arjen Robben on his part has struggled with injuries in this early part of the season which has seen him miss a couple of matches for his Bundesliga club Bayern Munich. Injury also meant he missed Netherlan’s friendly with Italy and Euro 2016 qualifier with Czech Republic in September. He has however shaked them off to play some games for Bayern recently.

The two players were said to have trained together with the Netherland squad before been withdrawn. It is not yet clear the reason behind their withdrawal but many suspect it could be a precautionary measure against injury.

Both country and club have not made any official statement regarding the pair’s fitness and its uncertain if both will feature for Netherland in their Euro 2016 qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Iceland on 10th and 13th September respectively.

Netherland plays Kazakhstan at home on Friday in a match many see Netherland winning especially after their 2-1 lose to Czech in the first qualifying match in September. They will also make the trip to Iceland who beat Turkey 3-0 in September.

Louis Van Gaal will hope his successor Guus Hiddink do not risk playing Van Persie if the Manchester United man is not fit enough to play as this could mean more woes for Manchester United who already have long list of injured players at the club.

Michael Carrick, Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Jonny Evans, Jesse Lindegard, Chris Smalling, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Paddy McNair are all out injured at Manchester United.

The suspension of Wayne Rooney from Manchester United’s next two games means any injury to Robin Van Persie will be a big dilema to Louis Van Gaal who will only have Radamel Falcao as the only striker for his up coming games against West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea.

Netherland can do without the two players considering the level of their opponent. Forcing the pair to play through injury won’t be best for both country and club.
