Manchester United To ANNOUNCE Double Signing Worth £47m This Week

Manchester United are set to complete deals for winger Pedro Rodriguez and goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from Barcelona and Ajax respectively this week.

This is as per Metro who claim the Red Devils are eyeing a £47m transfer double swoop for the La Liga and Eredivise aces, and that Pedro will join United on Wednesday for £22m after the La Liga giants’ UEFA Super Cup encounter with Sevilla.

The source also reveals Ajax goaltender Cillessen is expected to move to Old Trafford for £18m but the Amsterdam-based side will likely be holding out for £25m for the Netherlands international glovesman – who worked under United boss Louis van Gaal during his spell as Netherlands boss.

Ajax manager Ronald De Boer had stated previously that he would be unable to stop Cillessen from switching to Old Trafford if a huge offer comes in. It is understood van Gaal wants Cillessen to be a replacement for David De Gea, should the former Atletico shot stopper move to Real Madrid this summer. Despite the impressive performance of Sergio Romero against Tottenham during the weekend, the former AZ Alkmaar tactician still wants Cillessen as his first choice between the sticks.

Real have been chasing De Gea throughout the summer and it is believed United will acquiesce to let him leave for the Bernabeu, with van Gaal stating the 24-year old goalie’s situation is not benefiting the team and consequently, he dropped De Gea from the squad that faced Spurs.

United opened their 2015/16 Premier League account with a gritty 1-0 win over Tottenham. Kyle Walker’s own goal ensure victory for the Red Devils and despite van Gaal’s team having their first shot on target coming from Ashley Young in the 65th minute, the Dutchman is still insisting a striker signing is not a priority at Old Trafford.
