New Mats Hummels Bid Could Finally Get Manchester United The Player
After the signing of Victor Valdes to the team, Manchester United Coach will be looking to add another defender to his list of purchases as interest in Borussia Dortmund defender is said to be high. After United’s recent bid for the 26 year old German defender got rejected by Dortmund and recent claims by Mats Hummels’s father and agent that his son would not be moving this winter transfer window, it seems that United still maintain confident that they can tie up a deal for the 26 year old as soon as possible. Reports coming from Germany suggests that getting a deal done this month might not materialise but a summer move is sure of happening with a deal already agreed in principle.
After losing the trio of Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra last summer transfer window; Manchester United coach Louis Van Gaal has failed to replace this set of experienced defenders with at least one experienced defender. After unsuccessfully trying to make the German defender his first central defensive signing of the summer, he opted out to sign Argentine defender Marcos Rojo. Months after the summer window the Red Devils are reportedly ready to double their previous efforts in bringing the highly rated defender to the club as he remains top of Van Gaal’s transfer targets although some other transfer targets have been highlighted in case the Hummels talks stall like it did before.
With the poor state of our defence, the interest in Hummels should bring joy to the ears of Manchester United fans who have been left frustrated by the mediocrity of our defence and the amount of defensive injuries we have had this season. United fans would be relishing an opportunity to watch a star defender play for the team once again and will be excited that the rumours to sign Mats Hummels are getting stronger day by day. Mats Hummels is one of the most sought after defenders in Europe and it’s exciting to know that Manchester United are favourites to land the 26 year old. The pursuit of Hummels means United will be taking into consideration the mediocrity of our defence and are looking to solve the problems for the defence which is good news to a lot of United fans.
Even greater news is the fact that Mats Hummels is said to be unhappy at Borussia Dortmund with the rate at which things are going downhill at the club and with Manchester United looking likely to make the Champions League, the German might fancy a move to the Old Trafford side. Although Dortmund would try to do everything in their power to keep their prized possessions, it is doubtful if they would turn down a large transfer offer submitted. Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp might consider the fee being paid and might be willing to accept the fee so as to re-invest it back to the squad. As the rumours gain more momentum, hopefully sooner than later Hummels will be playing in the red and white colors of Manchester United.
