According to reports now surfacing in The Mail , 19-year-old Fluminense winger Kenedy, who has been a long term target for the Red Devils , is on the verge of a £6.3 million switch to Premier League Champions and rivals Chelsea. It was earlier reported that along with the aforementioned Premier League duo, Juventus and Wolfsburg were also in the mix for his signature. However, the same outlet has claimed that Chelsea appear to have finally beaten their rivals in the race to sign the young prodigy , with the player due to undergo a medical at the club’s Cobham training base in the next few hours.
His former club Fluminense had announced a fortnight ago that the Brazilian under-19 international had been sold to a third party , who appear to have seemingly negotiated a deal with Chelsea. ESPN have also chipped in with claims that the player will sign a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
The player himself confirmed his departure from the Brazilian club by posting an emotional letter on Instagram thanking the Brazilian club for helping him grow as a player.
Pacy, skillful and tactically astute , the winger undoubtedly has a great future in the game and his playing style has already drawn comparisons with his compatriot Hulk. Though he still has plenty of scope for improvement in his finishing and decision making ability , with proper guidance and direction, he will most definitely make his go on to become one of the best players in the world.
His transfer to Stamford Bridge is expected to be announced later this week. He joins an already strong Selecao contingent at the club featuring established Internationals like Filipe Luis, Willian and Oscar among others.
