Road Clears For Manchester United To Sign Sergio Ramos, Madrid Shops For Replacement

Real Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on a host of high-profile central defensive replacements for their unsettled star, Sergio Ramos.

Ramos is a key target for Manchester United and has reportedly told his club he wants to leave them to join the English club. Madrid value him around a reported £45 million, and also want United’s David De Gea included in the deal.

Reports have however suggest that Los Blancos are exploring the prospect of bringing in Juventus’ defender, Leonardo Bonucci to the Santiago Bernabeu in a €30 million bid, in order to replace the experienced Ramos.

Italian publication Mediaset reports that Real Madrid have already approached Juventus with a bid believed to be around €30 million for Bonucci, who has two years remaining on his contract. Tuttosport also revealed that Madrid’s coach, Rafael Benitez has earmarked Bonucci as Ramos’ replacement.

If Real sign Bonucci, they will, no doubt, acquiesce and grant Ramos his wish to move to Old Trafford. This will serve as good news to Man United who are looking to bring in a better and more experienced defender than the current bunch at the club.

29-year old Sergio Ramos will represent a huge significant addition which can help Man United fight for the title next season.

Bonucci, 28, is an excellent and disciplined defender who knows when to go in on a player. He has won four Serie A titles and a Copa Italia. He also led Juventus to the Champions League final, which they eventually lost to Barcelona.

Therefore, it remains to be seen if the Old Lady would be willing to let Bonucci , who represents a significant addition to their squad, leave. With Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, and Arturo Vidal likely to leave this summer, and Carlos Tevez (already left), Juventus may be willing to block Bonucci’s move to Madrid.

The Juventus defender has “the ablity to launch counter attacks from the back with well-placed passes”, Soccer Lens was quoted as describing the Leonardo Bonucci. He will therefore succeed with those passes in a Madrid team full of pace in their attack.

Bonucci is a year younger than Ramos and this means the Santiago Bernabeu club can enjoy more yeats of good performances from the former.

Therefore, Real Madrid gets Leonardo Bonucci, Man United sign Sergio Ramos. Perfect, it would seem.
