Chelsea delivered another setback in their transfer chase for Alex Teixeira. Report has emerged which claims that Liverpool are set to overtake their pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk forward Alex Teixeira.

The Express reports that Liverpool Chief executive Ian Ayre has flown to Florida, where the Ukrainian club have set up its winter base, to start negotiations over a potential deal for the Brazilian attacker.

According to the report, the Reds are offering around £25million for the player, but the Ukrainian club value him at £39million.

The report also claimed that the Blues have dropped their interest in the player after they found Shakhtar’s valuation of the player too high for their liking.

The Brazilian has scored 22 goals in 15 league games this season for his club.
