Woodward Magic! Manchester United To Land ex-Chelsea Man For £49.7m In January

Since the resignation of Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United have been without a trophy but they are currently placed in second on the Premier League table and it seems the glory days are imminent. In a bid to consolidate their rebuilding efforts, Manchester United are understood to be interested in the services of former Chelsea and now Bayern Munich midfielder Arjen Robben and they are willing to offer £49.7 million for his services in January, reports the Metro.

During his days as coach of the Oranges, Robben was a key figure in the Dutch team under Louis Van Gaal and the Dutch tactician is looking to reunite with his former winger. It is understood that Robben’s relationship with Lewandowski has collapsed and he is in the want of a move away from Germany.

However, should he make the move in January, he will be unable to feature for the Red Devils in the Champions League as he is already cup-tied with the Allianz Arena outfits. United were unable to sign Pedro Rodriguez during the summer and are a bit thin on the flank. Robben will take the place of Mata who has been playing from the right flank against his preferred midfield position.

The report further stated that United are willing to pay in excess of £50 million for the player’s signature. Robben, 31, has scored three goals in seven Bundesliga appearances this term.
