Chelsea target Romelo Lukaku reportedly wants to play under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United

Belgian international striker, Romelu Lukaku, has reportedly prepared to sign for Manchester United and repair the broken romance with Jose Mourinho. The Everton striker has been on the radar of most big European clubs after freely scoring goals at Everton and Manchester United are certainly one club in need of some fresh faces.

Lukaku has been in good form for Everton, scoring 18 goals in 32 Premier League games despite a fairly average campaign from the Toffee’s. Everton sit in mid-table, comfortably avoiding the relegation zone but some way off the European places they were hoping for. Teams need European football in order to entice players like Lukaku to join and stay.

Despite Jose publicly criticizing Lukaku when he played for Chelsea, and the subsequent falling out and sale of the striker, it seems Lukaku is willing to put all that in the past and try to work at their relationship again.

After the bust-up, Jose Mourinho, who was then Chelsea manager, sold Lukaku to Everton for £28million as he felt the player was not up to standards to lead the line. Lukaku and Mourinho have both played down the reports of their falling out and stated that the papers exaggerated the situation, which is more than likely.

United can certainly afford to pay big money for a striker of Lukaku’s quality, but what would it mean for United’s other strikers? Could it be a passionate reunification with the Portuguese boss who now looks certain to take charge at Old Trafford next year?
