Arsenal Set To Beat Chelsea To WORLD Class Star Signing, Mourinho Frustrated

Gonzalo Higuain has, according to the Daily Star,  pleaded with Napoli to allow him join Arsenal this summer. The report says Arsene Wenger rates the Napoli striker highly, and Arsenal already had a £43.3 million bid rejected by the Italian club.

Daily Star, however, quotes Corriere Dello Sport’s report which says Higuain will force a move to Arsenal by begging for a transfer to go through. Wenger is looking to bolster his forward line this summer and has the Gli Azzurri’s striker on top of his wish list.

Higuain, 27, was close to joining the Gunners two years ago but opted to join Napoli, who had just hired Rafael Benitez. The Argentine ace is now urging his brother, who works as his agent, to sort out his move to the Emirates as soon as possible.

Manchester United are also thought to be keen on Higuain after they let last season “flop” Radamel Falcao leave the club. The imminent departure of Robin Van Persie has also made United boss, Van Gaal look out for striking options.

Higuain has scored 35 goals and registered 14 assists in 69 league appearances since joining the Naples-based club. The former Madrid goal poacher is rumoured to want to leave Napoli as a result of the club’s inablility to secure Champions League football after finishing fifth last season.

Should this move fail to materialise, Arsenal have another striking target Karim Benzema, according to reports.
